Excellent viennoiserie in the Dog Patch. Limited seating outside on the sidewalk. Serves De La Paz coffee/espresso. I highly recommend.

Coffee shop run by ex-Chez Panisse folks. Nice breakfast fare (especially the soft-boiled eggs), plus Acme Bread is next door. Espresso a tinge sour for me. Limited seating. I recommend.

What the menu boasts in variety, it sometimes lacks in consistency as there's a lot of spontaneity in the cooking. But if you're willing to take the risk, it's a fun place for a group dinner.

Terrific pastas and very good pizzas. Trade off: super-crowded and noisy, long waits. If you can put up with these inconveniences, I highly recommend for the food.

Third visit, my first after Lee received third Michelin star: His best dishes remain the ones with a homier, more comforting feel. Clean plates, polished service. Excellent cooking. I recommend.

High-low pastry case, with sandwiches, salads, and quiche. Expanding quickly, with two more stores about to open. Will be curious to see how they hold up.

Sister restaurant to Brenda's French Soul Food, a creole restaurant in Tenderloin, this newer eatery serves hearty Southern fare for breakfast and lunch, meat & 3 plates at dinner. I recommend.

Always dependable for simplicity and quality. Californian cuisine at its best. Love the long, copper bar. Haystack fries and espresso granita are simple pleasures you'll find here. I recommend.

I come here for the amazing pastas and to admire Michael and Lindsay Tusk's eclectic and enviable art collection on the walls. Recent renovation. Cooking has climbed a notch up. Reaching hard for that third Michelin star, and it's noticeable. I recommend.

Antipasti and canoli on the bar top. One of the few late-night gems serving food past midnight. Cap the night with the "House Cappuccino 1919." I recommend.

A strong showing only a month after opening. Decent grill work. Highlight was the fluffy Japanese omelet. Will be back for further recon.
