IF you can get a seat at this super tiny sushi spot, consider yourself in for a huge treat. There are only two employees, the chef and his wife, and there is no menu available except for a tiny white board which is mostly written in Japanese. They pretty much have most anything you could want, you just have to ask. No crazy rolls at this place--you are better off with the sashimi plate or the chef's omakase (which never disappoints). The portions are a LOT bigger than at most sushi restaurants and that also goes for the bowl-like sake glass. Cash only, and it is better to come back around 9:30 for the second seating. If you must come early, doors are at 7pm, but prepare to get in line around 5:30 or 6 to snag a seat. Totally worth the wait!

My favorite bookstore in SF. Be prepared to spend hours browsing the hundreds of books they have at the main location, then head over to the Annex for their extensive collection of used books, comics, magazines and records/cds/DVDs. And if you have even more time (and patience) you can find some gems if you dig through the dollar bins in front of the store. The staff is also super helpful and quick with great recommendations.

If you have been in any restaurant kitchens in SF, they are almost guaranteed to have something from Kamei! Kamei has everything you could want to outfit your kitchen, and is especially good for those on a budget. I don't think I have ever left that store without buying something.
