The most pleasant surprise you'll find in the Outer Richmond. Japanese restaurant that occupies an unassuming storefront on Geary (at 19th), little to distinguish it except a small handwritten sign that states 'no sushi, no combination plate'. In exchange for giving up a taste of the more familiar, you get exquisite kaiseki-style cuisine that's an incredible bargain. Menu is organized by protein (about a dozen, from octopus to eel to duck), each one prepared in ten different ways. I highly recommend the miso black cod.
