A most memorable meal at Expendio de MaiZ, in the center of the Roma neighborhood in Mexico City. Coffee in coconuts, food in hand-forged earthenware and a chef preparing food as per his whim as a way to share with us, stories of his family and culture. Any one element (the food, the space, the hospitality) would shine on its own and taken together, crafted an eating experience I’ll be referencing and revisiting again & again. And that doesn’t even mention the conversations and connections forged with others in the restaurant. What a morning!
