  • High Five Ramen

    ulterior epicure

Tiny, counter ramen shop with a speakeasy feel. Terrific noodles, especially the clam special. Don't expect authenticity, but do expect flavor. Also, the "spicy" option exceeds the threshold of pleasure (Szechuan peppercorn). Stick with the "mild."

Restaurant and neighborhood inn that really heralded the second coming of Logan Square. Delicious American menu downstairs + a huge variety of whiskeys. Six beautiful rooms upstairs with a clean, open layout and some really fun details (check out the mixtapes). Room 55 is the best, as long as you don't mind a little noise from downstairs.

Great for oysters, beer, and small plates. Feels like an old-timey beer hall in modern times.

Tortas from Rick Bayless - an oasis at ORD. Egg and chorizo hits the spot in the morning. You can also order any of the tortas breadless.
